We had our first business meeting Monday February 25th at 6:30 in the little theater at Flinn Middle School. Despite the poor weather, and when hasn't it been recently, we had a very good showing of members. We had 31 members present and two that couldn't attend because of prior officiating commitments. Thanks to everyone that showed up.

We started the meeting by letting everyone know how to nominate members for the upcoming Board of Directors election. Nominations for each specific Board position should be sent to Pete Lucas, either by mail, phone or email. We will be holding the elections during the last meeting of the season. The date and time will be posted here at a later date. I will also be sending out an email to let everyone know prior to the meeting so be sure to keep checking the site for that information.

John Shirk gave us the treasurers report. He also explained that we failed to communicate to the membership that yearly dues were now $35.00. We apoligize for this breakdown in communication. If you paid last years fee, please be sure to send the additional $10.00 to John as soon as possible. We discussed how to use the $500.00 Tech. grant that we received from the IHSA. The two main ideas were either a video camera or a projector. Alot of good ideas for each option were brought forward, but it was decided to table the vote on this until after the upcoming election.

I then reviewed the website for everyone. As you can see it has a little bit of a new look and some of the areas have been moved or combined to make them work more effectivly. I also reminded everyone that we will be using eletronic communication from now on. I received a great idea to have Board members emails as easy as a click on their name on the home page. I will be working on this in the next few days. Thanks for a great idea Jim R. Please let me know if anyone has an idea to make this site better or easier to use.

Next Kurt and Tom gave the Assignors report. Kurt needs everyone to recheck their schedules as many have been changed. Kurt has recruited alot of new members and some of the long drives that were needed are no longer required. So please recheck your schedule and let Kurt know of any problems. Kurt let us know of some of the new uniform rules. The bottom line is that you and your partner need to match. The policy for rain outs was discussed. Kurt wants you to know that if a game is rained out and rescheduled, the make up game is yours until you tell him differently. He has asked that coaches and AD's let us know of any cancellations by no later than 3:30 the day of the game. Also remember that any replacements for varsity games need to go through the assignors. You can still get a replacement for the lower levels on your own.

We quickly reviewed the part I test. Remember you need to take the test by March 10th. Also the last clinic and rule intrepratation will be March 8th. Please contact Brad Salley ASAP

The first game of the 2008 season is March 13th at Belvidere North. If you have the time stop out and see the new field and cheer on the kids, and maybe even the umpires, as the new season gets underway.
